Luretta

Emilia-Romagna, Italy

In a tiny northern area of Emilia-Romagna sits Piacanza. Their beautiful sparkling wines from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are hand-riddled and disgorged, Malvasia is chief amongst whites here, with the Malvasia di Candia Aromatica autocthonous to Piacenza. Thick-skinned and intensely aromatic, Luretta makes a dry, nervy but mouthfilling version and a sweet, luxurious one as well. The winery’s primary red grapes are Barbera and Bonarda. Luretta’s Barberas are fully ripened, silky and full-bodied with soft but persistent tannins and balanced acidity. Their Bonarda is a little bit lighter and fresher, relying more on acid than tannin for its balance. Due to the rigidly restricted yields, very little of these wines are produced and we are extremely pleased to be offering the wines of Piacenza and Luretta to the Ontario market for the first time.

THE WORLD AWAITS.
