Tasting Notes

The 2017 Miraz Syrah is a dense and full-bodied wine showing an impenetrable deep ruby red colour in the glass. On the nose, the it has a distinct and intense aroma of freshly picked red berries, as well as spicy notes reminiscent of freshly ground pepper, with a delicate but still present smoky character. The palate follows suit, full of cassis and bramble berry with a round, solid structure balanced by a cleansing acidity.
Varieties

Syrah is a dark-skinned red wine grape. Its origins have been popularly debated, but its modern viticultural home is unquestionably the northern Rhône Valley of eastern France. Syrah can be quite floral in its youth, developing white and black pepper aromas and herbaceous notes as it ages. Some examples show leather and smoky scents, while the fruit in these wines lean towards very dark flavours of blackcurrant and licorice.
Region

Feričanci municipality is located in the western part of Osijek- Baranja county. The Mur river marks the northern edge of the region until it flows into the Drava, the longest of the Danube’s tributaries.
Vineyard

Feravino currently owns 160 hectares of vines, in three locations: Feričanci (3 km away from the cellar-processing location); Zoljan (12 km away from the cellar-processing location); and Ceremošnjak (24 km away from the cellar processing plant). All locations are located on the slopes of Krndija and divided into small microlocations separated by woods and other natural barriers.
