Bold and expressive on the nose, with aromas of blackberry, currant, white pepper, black licorice and plum. The palate is big and rich, with a good dose of firm tannins for backbone. Meaty, savoury notes mix with black fruit, mocha and black tea flavours. There is a fine seam of acidity that keeps the wine from being brooding, but it is a chewy one that, once decanted, screams for roast lamb with mint.
