Pouring Senses Wines

Founded in 2011, Senses quickly became one of the most exciting wine projects out of the Sonoma Coast. Occidental natives and childhood friends, Christopher Strieter, Max Thieriot and Myles Lawrence-Briggs partnered with world-class winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown to produce coastal Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Grapes come from many renowned and family-owned vineyards including the B.A Thieriot, Terra de Promissio, Dutton Palms and Charles Heintz sites. The wines are complex, intense in flavour and beautifully balanced. The wines are complex, intense in flavour and beautifully balanced. All wines ferment via indigenous yeasts and are neither fined nor filtered.

Tasting notes

2021 Russian River Valley Chardonnay

“The 2021 Senses Russian River Valley Chardonnay bursts from the glass with gregarious notes of apricot preserves, green mango, and passion fruit, plus suggestions of crème brulée, cashews, and brioche. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers a seductively decadent, satiny texture, coating the mouth with tropical fruit and honey-nut flavors, finishing with impressive length and vivacity. Talk about over-delivering!”

2021 Charles Heintz Chardonnay

“The Senses 2021 Charles Heintz Vineyard Chardonnay has notions of almond croissant, persimmons, and candied ginger tumbling from the glass, leading to a fragrant core of mandarin peel, lime blossoms, and juicy nectarines, plus a waft of butterscotch. The medium to full-bodied palate is an explosion of bright citrus and stone fruit fireworks, offset by fantastic tension and a satiny texture, finishing long and minerally. So good!”

2021 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

“The Senses 2021 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir has a medium to deep ruby-purple color. It charges out with exuberant scents of pomegranate, black raspberries, and redcurrant jelly, leading to wafts of violets, dark chocolate, and peppermint tea. The medium to full-bodied palate is bursting with red and black berry layers, supported by super-plush tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and fragrant.”

2021 Kanzler Pinot Noir

“The Senses 2021 Kanzler Vineyard Pinot Noir is medium ruby-purple in color. It needs a little coaxing to unlock fragrant scents of black raspberries, rose oil, and juicy cherries, leading to suggestions of tar, crushed rocks, and black truffles. Floral-laced black berry layers slowly build on the medium to full-bodied palate, textured by beautifully plush tannins, finishing long and earthy. I love the singular personality emerging here!”
