Tasting notes
2021 RIESLING
Notes of white flowers, quince, green apple and flint. On the palate, the richness of the wine is deftly supported by brilliant acidity. There is a leesy quality to it as well, supporting flavours of peach, MacIntosh apple, lime and a good dose of minerality. The finish is crisp, but there are elements of minerality that linger nicely. Chill lightly and enjoy with Greek souvlaki, summer salads or as an aperitif.
2020 CHARDONNAY
Cool-climate, lightly-oaked and fresh, this entry-level offering from Paul Cluver has aromas of Granny Smith apple, lemon zest, flint and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, the acids are zesty and mouthwatering, but there is ample weight and depth to support them. The apple replays, but there are hints of nectarine, apricot and flint. The finish is crisp – a real “crunchy” style of Chard. Pair this with seared scallops or pasta primavera.
2020 PINOT NOIR
Brilliant ruby in the glass. Aromas of red plum, licorice, cherry and spice predominate. On the palate, this is mid-weight, with silky tannins. Flavours of pomegranate, red plum, tart raspberry and spice are balanced by lifted acidity. A long, fruit-driven finish, with a hint of oak vanilla. Lightly chill for evening sipping, or serve with lamb burgers or sausage-stuffed portobellos.
