7th generation farmers, they have been working these vineyards since 1868, finally releasing their own wines in 1998. Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon specialists, their winery is located at the corner of Dry Creek Valley and Lytton Springs Road. Hallowed ground for Zins Rockpile Ridge is one of California’s newest AVA’s, sitting between 800 and 2000 ft elevation, but just 13 miles from the Pacific.

Hot days and very cool evenings, with huge diurnal shifts allow long hang times that mean phenolically ripe grapes with plenty of ripeness, but with balancing vibrant acidity.

Clay Mauritson, former University of Oregon football linebacker, grew up working the vineyards with his father, then cut his teeth working for Kenwood Vineyards.

Sourced from Hardie Ranch, from 6 different blocks, each parcel was hand harvested separately, at different times, half fermented in old oak foudres, the other half in stainless steel. This is Cali Savvy, thirst quenching, balanced, ripe and easy to drink.
